Conan, Magda, prince Tarascus, Demetzia, Xaltana, Zimonides, The Demon God of Acheron.
Conan finds himself in Nemedia He pays a wench with an ancient Acheronian coin. Unfortunately, Acheronian artifacts are the Nemedian king’s property, and this draws the attention of Prince Tarascus, who demands Conan’s aid in locating the legendary treasure mines of Acheron. Conan, along with Prince Tarascus, his wife Demetzia, and an entourage of soldiers and advisers, ventures into the northern mountains of Nemedia in search of the lost mines. They are ambushed by a savage tribe claiming to be descendants of Acheron. Eventually, they reach the long-hidden tomb of Xaltana—the Witch Queen of Acheron—which lies beneath a temple built in her honor and concealed by illusion magic. She was a powerful sorceress-queen who tried to replace the worship of Set with that of a malevolent Demon God. Inside the tomb, the party unwittingly awakens the Demon God of Acheron. The entity possesses Lady Demetzia. Conan slays the possessed Demetzia, but the demon transfers to a new host and begins spawning terrifying offspring by drinking the victims’ heart's blood.
