After trying to follow the Legion of Super-Heroes and the Pocket Universe Superboy through the time stream, Superman becomes stranded in a version of Smallville that feels strangely artificial. He soon realizes this is not his own past but a false reality created by the Time Trapper to preserve the Legion's history after DC's continuity changes following Crisis on Infinite Earths. As Superman uncovers the truth behind this fabricated world, he sets the stage for the final confrontation with the Time Trapper and the resolution of Superboy's place in Legion history.
