The maharadjah’s men later put the Cimmerian in chains. The white tiger with a star on its head jumped at the Vendhyan prince and tore off his left forearm during a hunt and the prince swore revenge on the beast and all its brethren. Conan reluctantly but successfully leads the prince and his men to the white tiger. Conan has second thoughts, is knocked out and wakes up in a cavern where reside many, many tigers and a stunningly beautiful white-haired woman who presents herself as Bengala, protectress of tigers. The next morning, Conan and Bengala enter the palace where the prince is preparing his petrol-filled pit to burn his tigers. The two rescuers open the cages. Bengala reveals that she is the white tiger. The enraged maharadjah is pushed into his pit and burned alive. Conan and Bengala return to her cavern. Later Jong Tsak and Conan fight, but once he gets his paws on the Khitan he easily breaks his back.
The Cimmerian is said to be about 32-33 at the time. He will travel to Vendhya in the course of this adventure.
