As Roman troops are about to go through a certain pass, Bran's allies will try to grind them between the Briton's chariots, the Gael's cavalry and the pictish arrows and spears. The plan hangs on one thing: 300 Northmen, headed by Kull, must hold the pass that is the only escape from the spot selected for the ambush. The Romans are indeed held back by Kull and his warriors; the Northmen, however, are killed to the last man. Kull is last seen fighting alone against staggering odds, before he vanishes into thin air.
