Conan prepares to take some of his men to find the kidnapped Belit, and, after ending a small mutiny leaves the village of the Watambi in search of the Dragon Riders. Belit is to be the bride of Amra, who the Dragon Riders fear, and she manages to cut her bonds with a crocodile scale and escape. Conan, unaware of his lover's escape, finds the Dragon Rider camp, and after starting a fire to terrify and scatter the giant crocodiles, kills all but one of the kidnappers. Belit is attacked by a giant mothlike creature, and is rescued by a large, muscular form- Amra.
