Sorcerers are killing Yasmina's brother, Bhunda Chand, the King of Vendhya. Devi Yasmina vows to get revenge on his killers, the Black Seers of Yimsha. Conan infiltrates the border fort and kidnaps the Devi. The problems are complicated by Kerim Shah, an agent of King Yezdigerd of Turan, who arranged Bunda Chand's death in order to lead an army through the mountains and invade in the subsequent confusion and turmoil. Gitara and Khemsa betray Kerim Shah and plan to use the information of the kidnapped Yasmina to their own ends. Conan and Yasmina reach the Zhaibar Pass and meet up with Yar Afzal.
