A rumour that the ancient bird protecting the vicious Gandor cult has risen from its volcano bearing fire and obliterating the nearby Okapi village spreads through the jungle and all the way to the Deep Woods. On arrival, the Phantom learns that the village has indeed been completely erased and that several eye-witnesses can swear that the bird carried it away in its claws. There is no alternative for the jungle's protector but to penetrate the forbidden temple gardens of Gandor.
