Thoth-Amon, Zarono (pirate), Strombanni (pirate); Valenso Korzetta (Zingarian nobleman), Galbro, Conan, Lady Belesa, Tina, Demon of the Caves. Fleeing from the Picts, Conan scales a crag of rock, whereupon he sees the Picts inexplicably abandon the chase and turn back. He comes across a cave filled with treasures along with the preserved bodies of the pirate Tranicos and his men. Nearby, Zingarian nobleman Valenso Korzetta has settled with his family up north to escape his past, a demon whom he double crossed. The Count is stunned when he learns that the buccaneer Black Zarono has landed on his shores followed by the pirate Strombanni, seeking the lost treasure of Tranicos. The buccaneers are bitter enemies. During a meeting one night between the Count, Black Zarono, and Strombanni, Conan surprisingly emerges from behind a drapery. The men learn from Conan that he himself has found the Treasure of Tranicos They reluctantly make a thieves' pact and agree to join the Cimmerian.
