Repeated references in the chronicles to “The Guardian of the Eastern Dark” bring a puzzled Phantom to Old Man Mozz, who recites a story of lands beyond the Misty Peaks where people once worshipped Zaal, a god of Terror who demanded human sacrifice, but whose reign was stopped by the 9th Phantom. Meanwhile, our Phantom is confronted with a new and lethal threat: drug peddlers have infiltrated the jungle to sell heroine to unsuspecting youths. The Phantom is tracing the source to a chilling place he has recently heard about.
