A space ship orbiting Earth is preparing an invasion by sending a scout ship to evaluate the planet's inhabitants. If the Earth's peoples are friendly, it is assumed that they will accept the new rulers. Otherwise the Earth's races face extermination. The scout ship generates a copy of a local warrior in the jungle, but its slightly skewed appearance creates panic amongst the tribes. Relaxing in a river, the Phantom receives one of the most puzzling tom-tom messages he has ever heard and races across the jungle to confront the alien threat.
