Conan (Shirkuh), Mellani, Darami, Kabul Nulla, Hammad, Agham, Borak, Makkar, Belissar Khan, Ali Shah, Abdel Khafir. Mellani discovers her brother being murdered outside her door. She is a reformed courtesan who has saved enough money to open her own establishment, but who is ready to drop it all to avenge her brother, killed by the leader of the Black Tigers. Mellani is captured by the Dark Tigers. While travelling to the Abode of the Damned, the Dark Tigers meet a lone horseman. Abode of the Damned is a city, which is the stronghold of a criminal gang (the Black Tigers), a local power in the southeastern desert (close to Afghulistan). Hammad and his men, along with Shirkuh and three strangers, arrive at the Abode of the Damned, where they discover the citizens' loyalties fractured among chiefs.
