Kushad sent Conan to her so she could give him a certain powder she knows how to prepare : the powder of memories lost. He then travels to Yezud searching for lady Jamilah. The city has been partly rebuilt after it collapsed back in CtB #13. Needing an excuse to remain in Yezud and nose around, Conan pretends to be a mercenary looking for a job. Conan see Yezud’s vicar priest Harpagus in the temple of Zath, the new spider god. Harpagus doesn’t recognize this “Nial” (Conan) for the man he left for dead in the swamps a few days before. Conan quickly blows a little of the “powder of memories lost” at Harpagus. He does provide him with a job as blacksmith, with young apprentice Lar. Conan later meets his sister, Rudabeh the spider dancer. Rudabeh reveals that a woman was indeed brought to Yezud’s temple by Harpagus and that she is kept there. In the tavern Conan meets Parvez, a Turanian noble, and he confesses that he knows very well who he is. Parvez is in Yezud to try and recover the abducted princess Jamilah. He recruits Conan to help him in his mission…
