1968 is an Olympic year in the jungle also, and not for the first time the mighty Phantom Trophy is attracting unwanted attention, this time from gangsters in league with ex-convict Oban, nephew of the Oogan king. Their audacious plot is successful, but runs into complications when Rex stumbles upon the theft and is kept as hostage. With the trophy gone and Rex missing, the Phantom must act quickly to prevent a bloodbath as the winners Llongo march towards the tiny Oogan village in search of revenge.
