Scrooge is suffering from rheumatism, which means his money is in danger. In fact, the Beagle Boys build a vehicle with a giant machine-driven axe, which they call the "Paul Bunyan" machine. Scrooge moves his money to Talltree, Idaho, where he owns 100 square miles of tall forest, and hides it inside the trees. But the government wants to build a reservoir there and orders the Beagle Boys to cut down the forest with their Paul Bunyan. With a load of cement, the Ducks are able to shut down Paul Bunyan for a few weeks; meanwhile, Scrooge has a huge combine harvester built and competes with the Beagle Boys to cut down trees.
