Tintin visits Sakharine, where he learns that there are actually two identical copies of the model. Returning home, he finds that his apartment has been burglarized. Then he find the parchment that was hidden in his model (nr. 15 og 16/1968). Haddock tells the story of his ancestor, the knight Francis Hadoque , captain of the Unicorn in the seventeenth century. His ship was attacked by a pirate ship, commanded by Red Rackham, and, after being temporarily knocked out, captured, escaping and defeating Rackham, Francis Hadoque ruin his own boat causing an explosion using powder kegs (nr. 17/ 1968).
