Informasjon/Beskrivelse Hellfire Club [Black Bishop [Harold Leland], Black King [Sebastian Shaw], Black Queen, Black Rook [Friedrich von Roehm], Tessa], X-Men [Colossus [Piotr Rasputin], Nightcrawler [Kurt Wagner], Phoenix [Rachel Summers], Rogue [Anna Marie], Shadowcat [Kitty Pryde], Storm [Ororo Munroe], Wolverine [Logan]], Caliban, Callisto, Nimrod, Sage [Tessa], Spiral [Rita Wayword].

This issue serves as the climactic conclusion of the “Mutant Massacre” prologue arc, resolving the confrontation between the X-Men and the Hellfire Club against the deadly assassin Nimrod, a mutant-hunting Sentinel from the future. After the chaos in New York, Colossus, Shadowcat (Kitty Pryde), and Nightcrawler are all severely injured. The remaining X-Men — Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, and Rachel Summers (Phoenix II) — regroup in Manhattan and encounter Nimrod, who has been hunting mutants to fulfill his programmed mission of extermination. During the brutal fight, the Hellfire Club, led by Sebastian Shaw and Harry Leland, intervenes — not out of compassion, but because Nimrod perceives them as mutants and turns on them as well. Faced with annihilation, the X-Men and Hellfire Club form an uneasy alliance. The battle reaches its climax when Harry Leland uses his mass-altering power to drastically increase Nimrod’s weight, sending him crashing through the floor. However, the effort kills Leland. In a heroic moment, Colossus uses his strength to shove the now-overweight Nimrod into the harbor, where the robot seemingly disintegrates. After the fight, Storm and Sebastian Shaw come to an understanding, agreeing that mutual survival depends on a temporary truce between the X-Men and the Hellfire Club.
