Conan, Hobb, Witchmen, Crypt-Keepers, Kulan-Gath, Torumjumala, Gwenalda.
The city of Artilleos remains under siege by the Purple Priests, the reanimated purple corpses, and the Crypt Guardians. Conan suffers the purple curse. Conan, dying, leaves the temple with the help of Gwenalda and they see how the inhabitants of the city are being massacred. They meet Hobb and the sorcerer Kulan Gath appears to the Cimmerian. Raw meat frees Conan from the purple curse. He breaks the cage where the jade snake is. He searches for the skeletons, who are with the witches, led by Torumjumala. Upon seeing the snake, the skeletons once again feel their mission to guard it. Conan lures the skeletons to the tavern with the snake, causing the skeletons to kill the reanimated ones. Conan takes the snake and gallops out of the city toward the ruins of Lanjau. There, Conan throws the idol into a large crack in the ground and the skeletons throw themselves after it. Coanan, Hobb and Gwenalda begin the journey north.
