Baron Turb'eq, Karn, Stavro, Durth.
Conan comes upon a group of men hassling a young maiden. He beats them up and runs off with the woman. They rest in a forest glade. Suddenly, soldiers under the command of Baron Turb'eq appear and attack them. Conan cannot understand what it is about this woman that garners so much attention. The maiden fires a bolt of mystical energy that blinds Conan's opponents. After the men are cut down, the woman asks Conan to bring her to the Tower of Flame - the source of her life essence. She uses her magic to open an iris in the center of the flame, and Conan brings her inside.
