Conan, Belit, G'Chambi (witchfinder), Ajangi (king of Abombi), Krato and Beeya (chieftain brothers), Nyami.
Ajangi orders his two chieftains, Krato and Beeya, to take Belit back to Abombi. Conan encounterer the lion, Sholo, and the beast recognizes Conan as his master Amra. Meanwhile, Belit is thrown into a dungeon with other concubines. Back in the jungle, Conan and Sholo encounter a symbol scratched into the ground in front of a cave, one that Sholo refuses to walk past. Conan investigates and finds the witchfinder G'Chambi living in the cave, using the symbol of Jhebbal Sag to keep the beasts at bay. G'Chambi teaches Conan the symbol.
