Urgently summoned back to the jungle, the Phantom learns that the ancient ape idol statue worshipped by the Durugu tribe has come to life and that the Durugu are conquering the jungle, threatening the Phantom’s peace.
The Phantom makes his way to Durugu country, but is soon captured and brought face to face with the colossal ape idol. Here, a chance for the new Durugu chief to conquer the remainder of the jungle tribes in one stroke presents itself: publicly executing the Phantom in an uneven fight with the jungle's new ruler.
