On learning that a large jeep and a plane circling overhead have been sighted near the Phantom-Peak, the Phantom intercepts the jeep and learns that it carries guns smuggled from neighbouring Tarashima and that 14 more carloads are imminent. When more investigations reveal that the Bangallan army is deeply implicated in the shipment, the Phantom rushes to Mawitaan to warn President Luaga of an impending coup, unawares of how effectively the traitors have infiltrated his administration...
